COMPANY INFORMATION
Capital Bank International
Ltd. was incorporated in 1988, under the laws of Grenada and has been a licensed
bank since 1988. Consequent to the introduction of the new Banking Act of 1993,
the Bank was issued a new license certificate on February 13, 1996 in accordance
with that act. The Bank commenced commercial banking operations on April 1, 1997,
offering local domestic banking as well as international banking services from
its headquarters on Grenville and Deponthieu streets in the capital city of St.
Georges. This two-storey building houses its retail Division on the ground floor
and its International Division on the second floor.
The paid-up capital and reserves of the Bank stands at EC$8,200,000.00 (US$3,037,037.00)
US$1=EC$2.70. This is well over the EC$5,000,000.00 required by law.
The Bank is a wholly owned and managed Grenadian Bank. Its Board and Management
are all prominent and well respected Grenadian professionals. The Bank currently
operates two branches in Grenada with a total staff of (30) thirty.

Over the past three (3) years, the assets of the
Bank has been increasing between 50-100% annually. This growth is expected to
increase with the recently commissioned Global Teller Card, Online Internet Banking,
and the newly opened branch on the islands west coast.
The bank believes that giving overseas clients
access to their accounts through the Debit Card would see significant increases
in remittances from Grenadian nationals living abroad as well as overseas investors
depositing with the Bank.
TARGET MARKETS:
In addition to its home market, the Bank is also
targeting Grenadian Nationals and friends of Grenada living abroad. There is a
strong presence of Grenadians in London and other parts of Europe, Canada and
the United States. Working through the Grenadian Embassies abroad, the Bank is
helping to coordinate remittances to the island. (Remittances are the second largest
foreign income earner for the island).
PROJECT FINANCING:
The Bank is also coordinating major project funding
for government and private sector development on the island.
LOANS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY:
Living up to its mission, Capital Bank is making
significant loan funds available to small businesses and rural small borrowers
throughout the tri-island state of Grenada. The work of the Bank is fully recognized
by the government, people and the press alike. The local print media described
the Bank this way "Indigenous financial institution excellence "CapBank
Leading the Way" and "Capital Bank - major boost to
sustainable development".
But the impact of the Bank on the local economy
is also recognized by the international press. The world report of The
Independent , one of Europe's authoritative and prestigious news paper,
described CapBanks statements and vision as an invaluable tool to inform their
readers about the current situation in Grenada's financial sector. After a recent
interview with the Bank's chief executive officer, Mr. F. George DeBourg, The
Independent wrote; "We are sure that our audience will appreciate CapBank's
continued efforts promoting innovation within the Industry and in making Banking
more accessible to Grenadians, as both aspects are instrumental to the continued
economic growth and development of the island". The Caribbean Week
newspaper described the work of CapBank as a "Banking Revolution",
and the Washington Times, labeled Capbank's operations as a "Banking
at the Forefront of Development"
GOOD CORPORATE
CITIZEN:
As a good corporate citizen, Capital Bank is now
a household name in Grenada. The Bank continues to make enormous contributions
to institutions and charitable organizations, (namely, Boys Scouts and Girl Guides).
The Bank is the proud sponsor of numerous sporting teams in Netball, Basketball
and Soccer. Contributions are also made to Educational Institution, Culture (Steel
band and Calypso) as well as church based projects in the various communities.
